Pecan Date Caramel Tart
A seasonal twist on our decadant date caramel cacao tart! This raw(ish) tart was born out of a dream for a nutrient-dense whole food alternative to the chocolate candy bars and truffles of my childhood. This rich and delicious tart is made with a raw, grain-free shortbread crust, filled with sweet gooey caramel made from just dates and a hint of maple syrup. Topped with roasted pecans, house-made chocolate ganache using raw cacao, and flakey Jacobson Sea Salt. I crave this beauty year round. Made with entirely organic ingredients, its like a pecan turtle tart but gluten-free, refined-sugar free, and of course, vegan! Paleo and blood sugar friendly.
This tart is 10 inch in diameter and serves roughly 8-12. Note, the second photo is included to show what the caramel and crust look like. This tart is peanut free. but does contains nuts (pecans), coconut, and seeds (sunflower). Store in fridge until you are ready to serve.
